Mr. Kaleb Adamba Mwendwa

Mr. Kaleb Mwendwa Adamba is a senior academic, researcher, and research administrator with over 30 years of diverse experience across the forestry, conservation, education, civil society, and public sectors. He currently serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Science and Mathematics Education within the School of Education, as well as the University Coordinator of the Grants Office at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). Professionally, he has held several key leadership positions, including Centre Director for the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) Coast Regional Research Centre, Executive Director of the Kenya Marine Forum, and Director of the Centre for Kakamega Tropical Forest Studies (CEKATFOS) at MMUST. Internationally, he has served as a Coastal Resources Management Advisor in the Philippines through VSO Jitolee-Kenya, and he recently led the MMUST team as project co-investigator for the BRECcIA project. Academically, Mr. Mwendwa is currently a Ph.D. finalist in MMUST’s Department of Disaster Management and Sustainable Development. He holds an MPhil. in Forestry/Soil Science, jointly awarded by Moi University, the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research (IGER), and the University of Aberystwyth in Wales, UK. His other qualifications include a BSc. in Forestry from Moi University, a Postgraduate Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from MMUST, and several specialized micro-credentials in Research Management and Administration from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.His research expertise spans forestry, environmental conservation, agroforestry, soil science, and disaster management and food-water security issues in the ASALs. This academic background is complemented by professional fellowships with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the American Association of Geographers (AAG), and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Russell E. Train Education for Nature program. Looking forward, Mr. Mwendwa intends to leverage his extensive experience in winning and managing large-scale grant proposals with major international donors—such as the EU, USAID, IAEA/FAO, DANIDA, SIDA, IDRC, and UKRI—to further his career in global research and development.
